Yumiko Taura

d. October 4, 2018

Yumiko was taken from us suddenly on the October 4, 2018 in a tragic, freak accident at the Columbia Icefield Discovery Center parking lot in Jasper National Park.

She leaves her family in Japan: father Mikihiko , mother Setsuko ,

sister Yoko, brother Shinichiro, sister Yasuko as well as many friends

in Canada and Japan.

Yumiko came to Canada in 1994 and has been involved in tourism

here in Banff and the Canadian Rockies for many years.

She has been a driver of motor coaches for last fourteen years

which was her dream job.

Yumiko had a beautiful smile and will be remembered as positive, kind and respectful of others and loved outdoor sports such as skiing, hiking, golfing, scuba diving, climbing and playing hockey.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her

friends and colleagues who have supported her in many ways

in her life in Canada.

Visitation service and gathering of friends and family was held at

Bow River Funeral Service chapel in Canmore on October 11, 2018.

Yumiko has been cremated and her urn taken back home to Japan

by her family.

Thank you for your warm message and donations to the go fund me page which was set up to be used by the family for Yumiko. We are grateful to know how much she was loved in this community.

Yumiko was an exceptional lady who will be greatly missed.
