It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Wilf McFeeters, Monday March 5th, 2012.
He will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 53 years, Margaret, children Tammy, Bradley and Anita, Melody, and Cindy. Grandchildren Wesley, Evan, Echo, Mackenzie and Michael will also miss their Grandpa.
One of 11 children, Wilf was born in Legoff, Alberta on October 18, 1930, son to Samuel and Olivene. The family arrived in the Bow Valley in 1953 developing the Spray Valley. After returning to the family farm in Cold Lake, Alberta, it wasn't long until Wilf moved to Edmonton and on to Wainwright.
After working in Wainwright for a short time, Wilf returned to Canmore and the Bow Valley in 1956 as an employee for Wells Construction building the Trans Canada Highway. It was during this time that he met his beloved wife at Leong's Café. Soon after, Wilf began his 36 year relationship with Parks Canada from January 1958 until retirement in June 1991. He formed many long lasting friendships during his career.
Wilf enjoyed and excelled at many sports especially baseball and fastball. He played for many years with the Canmore Merchants Fastball club achieving provincial and semi national titles. One of his proudest moments was when he played in a fastball game with his son and grandson at the Seebe Baseball diamond. In later years, golf became his passion, he also wielded a mean pool cue.
Wilf earned a Life membership of the Canmore Golf and Curling Club, and was an avid supporter and builder of such. He also made the golfer's dream of accomplishing a Hole in One, not once, but twice in as a little as eight weeks. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for thirty-three years and could often be found there enjoying a beverage or game of pool with friends. He embraced all the things that life offered. He loved his family and friends dearly and always made time for all.
A Celebration of Wilf's Life was held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 in the Creekside Hall of the Canmore Senior's Center. Reception followed at the Canmore Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Wilf may make a donation, in his memeory, to the Bow Valley SPCA,
