Wallace Reid Anderson, known to everyone as Wally, was born in
Michel, BC to Jim and Lily (Littler) Anderson. He was privileged to have grown up in Banff and truly had a wonderful life. Wally married Emma Ehret in 1948 and together they welcomed their daughter Laurie. Wally built the Spruce Grove Motel in partnership with the Waterworth family.
A natural athlete, Wally especially loved hockey and golf and made many friends through his pursuits. He gave back to his town as chairman of the school board, the hospital board, the Kiwanis club, Banff Curling Club, the Oldtimers Hockey Club and was an Honorary Member of the Banff Springs Golf Club.
Wally was predeceased by Emma in 1995. He is survived by his daughter Laurie Anderson (Victor Caron), an extended family, great neighbours, and many very good friends.
A memorial birthday party for Wally was held Friday, February 14 at The Banff Park Lodge. Cremation has taken place. His ashes will be interred at the Old Banff Cemetery with Emma at a later date.
Wally was a strong supporter of both the Mineral Springs Hospital and the Whyte Museum. Friends wishing to remember Wally, may make a donation, in his memory, to these local facilities or to the charity of their choice.
