Vern Millett

In the early morning hours of Friday, November 18, 2016, we lost one of our own. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vern, age 64, at Bow River Lodge in Canmore, AB, after a long struggle with a slow decline in health. He did not like being idle and limited in his capacity.

Vern will always be loved and cherished by his brothers Max (Theresa), Mervin (Beverly), Gordon (Lorraine), Roy (Marilyn), George (Janice), Barrie, Jim (Elly), Carl (Rose) and his sisters Shirley, Eva, Linda (Bob). He was predeceased by his brother Arnold and sisters Doreen and Eileen. Vern will always be loved and remembered by his multitude of friends in the Bow Valley.

Vern moved west in 1977 and worked at International Stereo, Calgary, until he moved to Banff. He then worked for Nexus Sound. He also worked with Moe Prozney in the industrial compound to run his own business, Pioneer Electronics. He ran ski lift maintenance at Sunshine Village and at Nakiska. He worked with Laidlaw maintaining the bus fleet. He was an expert of both electronic and mechanical repair. There wasn't a thing that Vern could not repair or build. He was truly a master of his craft! He will be missed for his warm smile, ready chuckle, down to earth presence, sense of humour, generous heart, willingness to help his friends, his open door, independent nature, uncanny mechanical aptitude and abilities, his fast ball pitch, hockey check and strong stick work, as well as his appreciation of a job well done.

Vern was an amazing and true friend to so many people in his life. Vern's family would like to offer a very special thank you to Tony, Karen and Ted for their incredible and compassionate care of Vern during his long decline, as well as special thanks to his steadfast friends Bruce, Randy and Gene.

Vern will be laid to rest in the family plot in the Norwood-Asphodel Cemetery in Ontario. Celebrations of Vern's wonderful life will be held in Norwood,ON at a later date to be announced. A celebration of life gathering of friends and family for Vern was held at the Georgetown Inn in Canmore on Saturday, January 21, 2017 .

All were welcomed to attend.
