Evangelos Van Christou was born in Athens, Greece on September 7, 1926 and passed away at his home in Banff with his family at his side on September 30, 2012.
Van is survived by his wife Iris, sons Dean, David, Peter, Marion, Greg (Jami) and Jeff as well as grandchildren Natalie, Heather, Thalia, Nicholas, Erika, Seth, Judah-Ben, Jacob and Breila.
Van came to Banff from Athens in February 1948. He met his lovely wife, Iris in Jasper in 1955 while he was working as a cook for CP Rail.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rae Seitz, Dr. Stephen Shigeishi, Brenda Pelton and all the nurses from the Banff Health Unit and also Peter and Randy from Gourlay's Pharmacy.
The funeral was held on Friday, October 5, 2012 in St. Georges-in-the-Pines Anglican Church in Banff
The family requests that people make donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street NW, Calgary AB, T2N 4N2, in lieu of flowers
