It is with heartfelt sadness to announce the passing of
Anthony Alfred Schpakowski.
Tony was a born and raised Canmore kid to Zelma and Joe.
A European household speaking Russian and eating the best
of homemade meals.
Tony loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, by bow and arrow, bringing his prize back home to make steaks and sausages to share
with his family.
Many hours were spent in his jeep, in the backwoods, 4 x 4ing, getting to the best location for fishing. Camping along the Bow River, taking in the beauty nature had to offer. Tony would catch the best of trout, clean, then fry in a pan of butter over an open campfire.
In the winter, Tony spent his time ice fishing on his favorite Spray Lake. Sitting with his fishing buddies, or a family member, talking about what his next adventure may be.
Tony worked at Lafarge for over 35 years, making lifelong friends.
He loved his music. An excellent guitar player – and a rocking voice.
If you could not find Tony outside, he was curled up the couch, watching a movie, from his vast collection.
Tony was a quiet, gentle soul. Opening up his feelings to only those he knew were genuine with their intentions of friendship. He will be missed by many incredible friends.
Tony is survived by his partner Marian. Marian cared for Tony
with all her heart, until the day Tony passed, holding hands,
sharing Tony's last breath.
Tony is also survived by his daughter Amy and son Jesse.
Tony's family will dearly miss his smile. His sister Mary Juravleff (George), who kept a close eye on her little brother, sister Julie Reynolds (Al), brother Ozzie Spagis (Elaine), several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Uncle Ton.
Cremation has taken place.
Once summer arrives, an invitation will be made by Marian and the family to have a ceremony and take Tony to Spray Lakes.
Thank-you to Dr. McPherson and all Canmore Hospital staff for their care, compassion, and support through this most difficult time.
If you would like to make a donation in Tony's name, please kindly
do so to your charity of choice.
