Shannon passed away peacefully Saturday morning June 2nd after a lengthy illness.
Shannon was born in Ottawa, Ontario June 15, 1956 and adopted by Lindsay and Annie Seaman. Shannon grew up in Elgin, Ontario with the help of her loving Uncle Ben and Aunt Joan. As a child Shannon developed her lifelong love of sport, excelling at swimming and running.
In 1974 Shannon started attending Mohawk College in Hamilton, taking Recreational Leadership. While at college, she met Joanne who would go on to be her lifelong friend. Heading west was the trend of day and in the summer of 1976 Shannon and Joanne headed for Banff. Shannon was drawn to the Rockies captivated by their beauty, a feeling that never left her. She spent several seasons working at Sunshine Ski Resort and Smitty's restaurant. Shannon met her husband Don in Banff and were married in 1986. Their three children soon followed with the family moving to Canmore in 1989.
Shannon enjoyed a lengthy career working for the Banff Centre from 1985 until 1999 working in various departments before she joined the Town of Canmore. Shannon was passionate about her work and especially the personal relationships she had with her co-workers.
She loved walking her dog Big Girl at the Quarry Lake dog park and spending as much time as she could with her children and her young grandson Hunter.
Shannon will be remembered for her love of her children, her passion for the mountains, her desire to help others, her tremendous community spirit and pride.
Shannon is survived by her children Quinn, Katerina and Bradley, her grandson Hunter, husband Don, pets Big Girl and Yoda, her brother Charles and his wife Tamara, best friend Joanne and countless friends in the Bow Valley.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eeles and the staff at the Canmore Hospital.
There was a short service and celebration of her life
Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St Michaels Anglican Church in Canmore.
In lieu of flowers, Shannon asked that donations be made in her name to the Bow Valley SPCA, 123 Bow Meadows Crescent, Canmore, AB T1W 2W8
