January 26, 1921 - Windsor, Ontario
February 3, 2020 - Banff, Alberta
Wife, Mother, WWII Vet., Sheep Rancher, Weaver, Gardener
Ruth Carolyn Page passed away peacefully at 99 years of age.
Her youth was spent in Ontario and with the outbreak of WWII,
she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy.
As a WREN, Ruth was deployed overseas to Great Britain, where she met
her Scottish husband Gordon. After the war, they emigrated to New Zealand where a daughter and son were born before they returned to Canada, where another son was born. After several moves, Calgary and the Mountain area became home. While she was an avid hiker, kayaker and x-country skier;
her true passion was gardening. Barren landscapes were transformed into beautiful gardens in each of their homes. Ruth was a kind soul with a quick
wit and a love of animals and all living creatures.
She holds a special place in our hearts and will truly be missed.
Ruth is survived by her children, Belinda, Brian (Joanne),
and Matthew (Susan); grandchildren, Douglas (Helen), Kailey, Stephen, Jesse, Melanie, and Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Blake and Owen.
Ruth was predeceased by Gordon, her husband of 70 years, in 2018.
Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and staff of St. Martha's Place
in Banff who extended such competent and thoughtful care to Ruth.
Also thanks to the third floor staff at Bethany Calgary who cared for her
prior to the move to Banff.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Memorial Fund
