Ron Waterhouse

On January 6th in Sydney, British Columbia our beloved Ronald James Waterhouse suddenly passed away at the age of 67 years.

Ron is survived by his brother, Ken Waterhouse (Alison) of Banff, AB and sister, Lois Willuhn (Erich) of Sherwood Park, AB. Ron leaves behind 7 nieces and nephews: Rick Waterhouse (Kelley) of Kelowna BC, Kendall Gregory (Joe) of Banff AB, Lynsey Waterhouse (Justin) of Revelstoke BC, Evan and Kyle Waterhouse of Banff AB and Heidi and Jeremy Willuhn of Banff and Sherwood Park AB. He also leaves behind great-niece Zoe Waterhouse Crosby and great-nephews Owen and Jack Waterhouse and Hunter Gregory.

Ron is also survived by his everything — his amazing dog Amos.

Ron was predeceased by his father Harold (Hal) Henry Waterhouse, his mother Jean Isobel Waterhouse (Walls), Jim Walls and Jim's children Peter and Brenda Walls.

Ron grew up with the McLeod family entrepreneurial spirit in his blood. In the late 1950's-60s, Ron was employed by Brewster Rocky Mountain Tours in several capacities. He then moved on and was owner/operator of several business ventures: Tilden and Hertz rent-a-cars, The Scoop Ice Cream and Donut House with his brother Ken, a partner in Bumpers the Beef House and property management.

In his early years, Ron was an avid curler, skier and hockey player. Later, he loved to play golf and was a long-time member of the Banff Springs Golf Club. Ron also was a long-time member of the Kinsmen Community Service Club of Banff. He also enjoyed his wonderful retreat at Columbia Lake, BC. Ronnie retired to Sydney, BC where he has a wonderful and warm circle of friends whom will cherish him forever.

Ron was a very well known and loved long-time resident of Banff who touched so many people's lives in many different ways. He was an incredibly kind, gentle, loving person with a great sense of humour. He died as he lived, as everyone's friend. He is sadly and forever missed and our memories of him will keep us smiling, laughing and bring us peace.

Ron lived much of his life by the KISS philosophy and requested that no memorials or services be held in his name.

If you so desire, donations in Ron's name can be made to the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital or The Canadian Lung Association.

Services provided by Russ Reynolds and Bow River Funeral Service.
