Rob passed away peacefully at the age of 95, surrounded by family.
He was born in Banff, the youngest of the pioneer Crosby family.
Rob was active in his youth in sports, particularly in skiing,
speed skating and golf. He was Canadian Champion in
speed skating in 1936, and enjoyed skiing the mountains
around Banff until he was 90! After university he had a successful career in the RCAF, the highlight of his accomplishments being the Avro Arrow Project. After retirement, Rob returned to Banff to work at Deer Lodge, the family business.
Rob was married to his childhood sweetheart, Evelyn Mattern, for 65 years. They had three children, Anita, Rick, and Heather (deceased). Rob loved his family, and he will be missed by his seven grandchildren, and his seven (soon to be eight) great-grandchildren.
Rob was active in the community Rotary Club, the Banff Hospital Board, as well as the sports he loved in his youth, skiing, skating, and golfing. Rob was a respected gentleman, a good example for us all.
Funeral Service was held at St. Georges-in-the-Pines Anglican Church on Monday, August 21, 2017. Reception followed at the Banff Park Lodge.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Martha's Place
Equipment Fund at the Mineral Springs Hospital, PO Box 1050, Banff T1L 1H7 in his memory.
