Robert (Bob) Foster

Bob Foster, beloved husband of Audrey, passed away peacefully at his home in Canmore, Alberta on June 4, 2013 at the age of 84 years.

Bob was born and raised in Calgary, graduating from Central High School. He attended the University of Alberta and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Class of 52). He later received a Masters in Structural Engineering from the University of Illinois

(Class of 59).

In 1953, he began a 34 year career working for the Alberta Government - Bridge Branch in Edmonton. He rose to the position of Executive Director and retired in 1987.

While raising their family in Edmonton, they spent summers at Pigeon Lake and winters skiing. After retirement, Bob and Audrey moved to Canmore where they immersed themselves in the local culture. They continued skiing and became season pass holders at Mt. Norquay. They also joined the Canmore Golf Club in 1987 and developed a passion for the game. In 1991, Bob and Audrey began spending winters in Mesa, Arizona where they continued to add to their circle of friends.

Bob is predeceased by his parents Floyd and Ann (nee Webster) and is survived by his wife of 58 years Audrey (nee Paulence), his daughter Robin (Tino) DiManno, his son John (Laureen) Foster and his grandchildren Marc and Melissa DiManno. He is also survived by his sister Ruth (Charlie) Hansen of Calgary, and sisters-in-law Marian Burke of Calgary and Verna (Michel) Zaregradsky of France.

The family is very grateful to Dr. John Michalyshyn and to the

Foothills Hospital Cardiac Function Clinic for their expert care,

patience and compassion.

Funeral Service was held at St. Michaels Anglican Church, Canmore on Tuesday June 11, 2013.

He was laid to rest in a private family service in the Canmore Cemetery.
