Rita Fournier

Rita May Fournier passed peacefully in her sleep on April 21, 2016 and has gone to join the love of her life, Lionel.

Rita and Lionel retired to Canmore in the early 80s and were finally able to build their sweet little nest in the west. Rita was very active in the Catholic church and Canmore community and also enjoyed all the outdoor splendours that Canmore has to offer. She was a talented seamstress and knitter, a fabulous cook and baker and had the voice of an angel. She was a wonderful, warm, loving wife, mother and gramma and will be sadly missed

Rita is survived by her four children; Bob, Ellen, Paul and Anne as well as five grandchildren and three great grand children.

Bottomless thanks to Dr. J. Michalyshyn, Rachel Stefaroi, the nurses and staff at the Canmore Hospital and especially the staff of the Golden Eagle View long term care unit.

A graveside service of remembrance was held on Friday, May 6, 2016 in the Canmore Cemetery where she was laid to rest with her beloved Lionel. There was a gathering of friends and family following in the Townside Hall, Canmore Seniors Centre. All were welcomed and shared their memories of Rita.
