Richard S. Bryson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rick,

a man who truly lived life to the fullest. Rick passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after facing the end of his life with extraordinary bravery and dignity.

Rick excelled at every endeavor he pursued, making the most of every environment he lived in. A nature lover through and through, he was an avid sportsman, and incredible outdoors-man and an amazing athlete who always put his best effort into everything he did.

Born in Vancouver in 1944 and raised in Victoria, BC, Rick spent his youth sailing and enjoying basketball and Jazz Club, always with many friends. After graduating from Oak Bay High School in 1962, he moved to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta. It was there that he met the love of his life, Mary, through their fraternity circles. They married in 1966, started their family in Edmonton, and in 1975 moved to Vancouver.

Rick had an incredible talent for all things financial and his career in the banking and investment industry spanned many successful years. While in Vancouver, Rick's love of sports flourished. He was involved in many activities from volunteering for the Tyee Ski Club at Grouse Mountain to riding and racing bicycles with the Ace Cycle gang. He also became an avid fly fisherman, tying his own flies and fishing the many streams and rivers from Haida Gwaii to Oregon.

In 1995, Rick and Mary moved to Banff, where Rick found his true home. A regular at Mount Norquay, Rick became a well-known and respected figure among his skiing buddies. An outstanding skier, Rick consistently met his goal of 100 days on the slopes each year for nearly 30 seasons.

Upon retirement, Rick and Mary enjoyed golfing at the Victoria Golf Club and spending time at the "RK" in Oak Bay. During these years, Rick rekindled his love of car racing, a passion from his younger days in Edmonton. His skill on the track was undeniable, and he often won championships in his class.

Rick recently reflected on his life and said, "I've had a good run." His favorite days were when he could ski with his family, fish with his son and drive his GT3 on the track. He lived every moment with purpose, passion, and joy. His loyalty and devotion to his family, especially Mary, was unwavering. Rick's adventurous spirit, his love for the outdoors, and his incredible zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife Mary, his children Steven (Tanya) and Kathy (Mark), grandchildren Sam, Julianna, Philip and Patrick, his sister Robyn, extended family and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family would like to thank Drs. J. Baergen and A. Bakker and

all the wonderful nursing staff at Acute Care, Mineral Springs Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Rick in his final days, you truly are angels.
