Richard (Dick) Elton Beaumont, age 73 years, left our world on Thursday March 7, 2013 with his family by his side and on his own terms, in control of a situation that had offered him too little control for far too long. Dick was predeceased by his father Richard Louis Beaumont in 1974 and his mother Florence Lillian Beaumont in 1984. Dick is survived by his loving wife Helene of Canmore, Alberta; son Robert (Sherry) of Plano, Texas; daughter Dawn (Ken) of Canmore, Alberta; brother Gary (Koreen) of Beaumont, Alberta; four grandchildren Ethan, Julian and Cayley of Plano, Texas and Ryan of Canmore, Alberta; and many loving nieces and nephews.
We love you dearly and will miss you always.
Dick was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on August 2, 1939 and moved frequently throughout North America as a youngster having lived in 14 different locations before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1958. Dick served in the Air Force for 20 years as a technical writer, editor and trainer before continuing his profession in the private sector within the defense, satellite communications, and global positioning industries.
Dick was continuously busy professionally and at home. He was an entrepreneur who founded a company in the early 70's and co-founding a second company the early 90's. Dick and Helene retired to Canmore in May 2010 from Keswick, Ontario to be closer to their daughter and family. Dick will be lovingly remembered for his unique sense of humor, honesty, straight-forward opinions, gentle and loving nature, pride in his children and love of his wife and family.
We would like to thank the staff and extended team of Golden Eagle View for the loving care and kindness you provided to Dick over the last
17 months. You lifted his spirits daily, you made him laugh and you enabled him to live out his days with dignity. You truly made a positive difference in his life.
We would further like to express our sincerest thanks to Dr. M. Quinlan
for his compassion and guidance in managing Dick's Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare disease that affects approximately
6 in 100,000 people.
As per his wishes, Dick was cremated and will be interred
at a future date at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in St Albert, Alberta.
