René Pinet

Mr. René Paul Pinet of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the age of 64 years.

René was born at Quebec City in 1950; and moved with his family shortly after, to the small mountain community of Canmore, Alberta. René grew up loving the mountains and the outdoors. He and his brothers spent many summers renting out horses in the school flats and doing chores everyday for their Mom and Dad. René was a hunter; as well as a fisherman, and a volunteer firefighter. His proudest moment though was when he became a coal miner and he always looked forward to "Miners Days" as a way of staying in touch with his friends. He got his first car as a young man and was a self taught mechanic; which led eventually to being an equipment operator for Banff Parks Highway Department, for a number of years. René moved to the Red Deer Area in 1994 and worked for the Highways Department in Central Alberta for the rest of his life.

René had an amazing memory and could remember and tell great stories about his life with family and friends. He was very proud to wear the Montreal Canadiens Jersey and could recall all the stats and draft details from years ago to present. He fought a hard battle, in the last few months especially, but never stopped remembering and loving

his family and friends.

René will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Terry, his brothers, Michel (Pat) of Canmore, Alberta, Marcel (Kate) of Coleman, Alberta and sister, Denise of Canmore. He will also be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Bona Darling, as well as many other brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. René was predeceased by his father, Paul and his mother, Lois.
