Phyllis Hubman

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Ida Hubman (Souvie) on Sunday September 25th in Canmore, Alberta surrounded by her family after a short battle of recurring breast cancer.

Phyllis was born May 27, 1942 in Edmonton, Alberta. Canmore became her home in 1964. Phyllis is survived by her two sons, David (Kathy) and Paul, her brother Brian Souvie, many extended family and her large circle of friends.

Phyllis enjoyed her years in Canmore raising her two sons and being an active member of the Canmore community. She worked at the Canmore Hospital for 20+ years, where she was blessed to have made many lifetime friendships. Phyllis was always involved in volunteering and participating in many community groups and events. Canmore Mine Rescue, Canmore Minor Hockey, Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, Canmore Golf & Curling Club, Canmore Seniors Association to name a few. She enjoyed many activities - coffee with friends at A&W, bargain hunting at garage sales, thrift stores, and city shopping trips. A life time member at the Canmore Golf & Curling club, actively golfing in ladies & seniors leagues. Since Phyllis made Bow River Lodge apartments her home, she was a great friend and neighbour to many. Phyllis could be found at card games, Friday Bingo, and going on the bus trips to Stoney Casino or Stage West. Neighbourly visits were made frequently, always sharing her baking, soups, goodies, many books and stories.

Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at

St. Michael's Anglican Church hall in Canmore.
