Peter Anderson

On January 28th, 2014, the spirit of Peter Anderson peacefully departed his physical body to begin a new journey and adventure.

Peter was born on July 23rd, 1947 in Montreal, but it was in the fresh air of the countryside where he enjoyed himself the most and raised his family. An avid fly fisher and skier since a youngster, he was a local legend throughout the Eastern Townships of Quebec, and moved to Canmore with his family in 1999 to rip bigger mountains and cast in mightier rivers.

He will be remembered for his determined but friendly competitive nature, his ability to make anyone and everyone forget their problems and have a good laugh, his no regrets lifestyle, his optimistic outlook, his passion for the outdoors and his love and gratefulness for his wife Chris, son Tim and daughter Holly, as well as his many close friends scattered literally from coast to coast. His legacy will continue to live on through the Wellspring Ski Day at Lake Louise; a non-profit ski program he set-up in partnership with Wellspring Calgary, YACC (Young Adult Cancer Canada) and Lake Louise that gets cancer patients out on the slopes (taking place April 6th).

Peter had sincere love and appreciation for everyone who helped him with his fight. Dr. Alim Mitha, Dr. Paula de Robles, Dr. Richard Nordel, his Calgary nurses Jenna Haugrud, Jill Bullock and Lydia Porubovic, Scott, Sue and everyone at the Canmore Sobey's pharmacy, Dr. John Michalyshyn, Elizabeth Williams, the entire Bow Valley Primary Care Network and Canmore Integrated Home Care, the Banff Centre and everyone else who gave him a ride, did him a favour or simply gave him a well deserved laugh during his battle.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Peter's memory to The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, The Canmore Hospital, Wellspring Calgary, or The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

A Celebration of Peter's life was held on Saturday, February 8th

in the Bentley Chamber Music Studio, Music & Sound Building at The Banff Centre.

An 'Eastern' Celebration will take place next summer, date and place still to be determined.
