He is also survived by his grandchildren: Holly, Kailey, Connor, Garrett, Devon, Brayden, Katrina,Stephen and Brad as well as 8 great grandchildren, and by his sister Mary Lou Simpson (Don), Joanne Reinbold (Hank) and sister in law Beryl Hergott.
Percy was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the oldest of 4 children, and grew up in the Hillhurst area of Calgary. Percy and Dana were married in 1958 and enjoyed 59 wonderful years together. He enjoyed a very successful career in the printing business with his company Universal Engravers which he ran until his retirement in 1987. Throughout his career Percy developed many lifelong friendships and became the printer of choice for many law firms, accounting firms and government agencies. He took pride in having a reputation for delivering high quality, reliable and trustworthy services throughout his career.
After retirement, Percy and Dana relocated to Canmore to enjoy their love of the mountains. Percy and Dana lived retirement to the fullest, spending winters in Scottsdale, Arizona and summers at their cabin in Invermere, BC. Percy also enjoyed numerous trips and cruises to Europe, South America, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
He developed lasting friendships wherever he went.
Percy underwent heart surgery in early June and died peacefully
in his sleep from complications during recovery. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff of the Canmore Hospital and the Cardiac Care Unit at the Foothills Hospital for the wonderful care he received.
Percy did not want a funeral or memorial service, instead he has asked that everyone "hoist a cold one" in his honour.
