Nawana Payne

Nawana Payne, 78, passed away at her home, in Banff, AB.

Nawana will be lovingly remembered by many, including her siblings; Fayette (Ray) Western, and Douglas Rae (Pam) Payne. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Oliver and Hazel, brothers Harold (Doris), Howard (Margaret), Dell, and Terry, as well as a special friend, Harry.

Nawana was born in Cardston, AB. She spent her childhood years in Southern Alberta, then moved around several times, living in Calgary, Edmonton, and British Columbia, where she worked in several restaurants as a server, before she fulfilled her dream of living in the mountains and moved to Banff, AB. In Banff, she worked at the Banff Center preparing and serving food, a job she loved and cherished, before retiring. She also performed in a drama production there.

Nawana loved to visit family, wherever they were at. She also enjoyed other travels, including trips to the United States, and also a trip to Greece, where she spent a few months. She made many friends along the way, keeping in contact with several of them.

Nawana was very accepting of everyone who crossed her path, no matter what their story was, and befriended many. Her years in Banff, Alberta, brought her much joy and happiness, as this was her favourite place she lived and worked. She loved the mountains and didn't even mind the colder winter months. While in Banff, she met her friend, Harry. They meant a lot to each other and helped in each other in their golden years. They went on many trips together and shared their lives. She also loved visits from family, doing puzzles, watching the local wildlife, going out to eat, watching her game shows, and watching movies.

A celebration of life will be held, for friends and family, at a later date.
