Nancy Elizabeth Hopkins Luck, age 63, passed away peacefully
on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff,
after a courageous battle with cancer.
Nancy was born in Oshawa, Ontario, grew up in St. Catharines,
and in 1975 she moved to Banff where she began a new life with
many friendships which would later prove to stand the test of time.
For many years Nancy thoroughly enjoyed her role as a stay at home mom to her two children Carmen and Brodie. Years later, she returned to school to become a Home Health Aide for Alberta Health Services in both Banff and Canmore.
In 2013, Nancy retired and moved to Vancouver Island where
she lived oceanside and once again she made numerous friends and acquaintances with her welcoming manner, expressive eyes and sense of humour. Nancy had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Her infectious smile lit up our lives and the world around her. She had so many stories and she'd insist on telling us every little detail. The love she gave from her enormous heart will live on through all the lives she touched. Nancy returned home to Banff this past summer to be closer to family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her children Carmen and Brodie Luck,
their father Jim Luck, grandchildren Lily and Aria, brothers Paul and Norman (Vicki) Hopkins and sister Linda Hopkins and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her father, mother, and stepfather. (John Hopkins, Rejane and Jack Coote).
She was also predeceased by her infant son Johnathon Luck,
Feb 19, 1984.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Banff Health Unit,
as well as the staff at the Mineral Springs Hospital; the care
Nancy received was amazing.
There was a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Nancy's life at the Royal Canadian Legion in Banff on Saturday, February 9, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Diabetes Canada would be greatly
appreciated.
