It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of
Moira Thorburn Reid (nee Lewis) on January 24, 2015. She was born February 19, 1933 in Calgary, Alberta. Moira was raised by loving parents in what was then small town Calgary. As a child she enjoyed skating on a backyard rink that her father built for her and trips on the trolley car to Bowness Park. True to her Scottish roots she learned to play the bagpipes. Moira began her working career at Great West Life. Soon after, she met the love of her life John, they married in 1956 and raised four children. She joined the family business Lewis Stationery in 1970 and as an owner successfully managed 120 employees. She devoted her whole life to her family, travelled extensively and loved gardening, needlework and spending time with the family pets as well as being an amazing cook and baker. Her pies were the best in the world! Wonderful family time was spent at their cabin in the mountains, which was built and created by them as a labour of love. In 1984 John and Moira established Reid Stationers, which has become the legacy for their children. She is a beautiful lady that is now resting at peace with the love of her life.
She is survived by her children Shauna McCloy, Maureen (Russell) Bilton, Lauchlan (Tracy) Reid and Fiona (Michael) Filipski, her grandchildren Matthew, Kelsey, Connor (Justine) McCloy and her great grandchildren Mikennah and Hayden McCloy, her brother Bruce Lewis and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband John (2011), her parents James and Mary Lewis and her
sister Cecille.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the incredible staff at Day Medicine Rocky View Hospital and Unit 112 at Foothills Medical Center for their dedication to Moira's care. Funeral Service was held at St. Michaels Anglican Church in Canmore, Alberta on Friday January 30, 2015 followed by a family graveside service.
