Miros Mitkas

Miros Mitkas was born May 7, 1942 in the village of Foufas, Ptolemaida, Greece to Stefanos and Meropi Mitkas. He emigrated to Canada in 1964 and lived in Toronto where he spent his years in the hospitality industry loving to serve others. Every day was a celebration and he wanted to bring joy to others. His smile and laugh were contagious to those around him Opah!

Our dad went to be with the Lord after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer Disease on Tuesday January 26, 2010 at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital.

Miros will be forever remembered in the hearts of his son Parry (Zulma) Mitkas and daughter Helen (Chris) Hunter and grandchildren: Katherine Hunter, Melissa Mitkas, Sarah Hunter, Nicole Mitkas and William Hunter. He also leaves behind his brother, Todoros, sister-in-law Soultana their children Mary and Stefanos and his sister Niki and her children Catherine and Koula in Macedonia. Miros was predeceased by Evangelia Mitkas, his wife of 13 years as well as his father, Stefanos and mother, Meropi.

Miros will be remembered for his love of family, his smile, laughter and love of food. His life was faith expressing itself through love. A special thanks to Dr. L. Marriott and the caring staff at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital for their loving care and kindness over the last three years.

The funeral service for Miros took place Saturday February 6, 2010 at the Cochrane Valley Community Church. Interment followed in the Cochrane Cemetery.
