Mike passed away suddenly at his home in Banff July 8, 2010 at the age of 54 years.
Loved son of Mildred and Thomas Stuart. Devoted father of Niccela and her mother Lisa Kinman. Cherished brother of Jayne Gray (Packer), Jim (Diane) Packer and Barbara Jardine (Packer). Fondly remembered by nephews and nieces Matthew, Sandra, Lyndsay, Allison, Mason and Trent.
Michael has lived in the Bow Valley since the late '70's and worked for Parks Canada since 1979. He first worked at Rampart Creek campground where he landed the job of a lifetime as Mike lived for the outdoors. He was a lover of hiking and climbing, but his greatest passion was fly fishing. Mike was an extremely talented fly fisherman and lived for his time spent on the river with buddies on many camping and float trips. Mike was a phenomenal downhill skier and loved ski touring.
In the '80s Mike worked setting cross country ski trails for Banff National Park and campground supervisor for Tunnel Mountain campgrounds. Very recently he schooled and became a Journeyman Carpenter and worked with the carpenters shop at Parks Canada.
Mike's other great love was his daughter Niccela. Friends say that his love for her was something they never knew of before and he was the proudest Dad on this earth.
Mike will be sadly missed by all friends, family and all those that knew him.
A Celebration of his Life was held Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Banff Park Church.
In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made, in Mike's memory, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #200, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary AB, T2N 1Z6
