On the evening hours of February 28th. 2015, Margrit Elizabeth Ramel passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary with her niece by her bedside, following a battle with cancer. Margrit is survived by her two sister Agnes and Vreni, numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, all living in Switzerland, niece Marie-Therese Hegnauer, husband Beat Hegnauer, sons Justin D. and David J. Hegnauer, living in Canmore.

Margrit was born in Switzerland, April 24th. 1931 immigrated to Montreal August 1st. 1955. She travelled to the Canadian Rockies in 1957 and worked a summer season at the Fairmont Château Lake Louise. She decided to move a bit further west and spend a few years at Manning Park, BC. In 1966 she moved to Kelowna to start her nursing career. In 1969 she packed up her belongings and drove all the way North to Yellowknife to continue her nursing in the maternity ward, where she spend 25 years until her retirement in 1994.

As we all know, Margrit was quite an adventures lady. After her retirement she moved to Canmore in October 1994, where she enjoyed every minute of it. She has hiked many mountains in those 20 years. Margrit joined quite a few local groups here in the Bow Valley. The Meanderthals, the Quilting Guild, the Cross-country Skiers and Snowshoers, the Painting Group, the Mountain Granny's, the Birding Group, the Park Stewards, and was always ready for volunteering.

Margrit made so many friends around the globe and kept in touch with a lot of them over the years. Margrit was a very gentle, kind and caring person, and always here for anyone. We all miss her very much.

A Celebration of Life for Margrit was held on Thursday, March 12. 2015 in St. Michael's Anglican Church, Canmore, AB

The family would like to thank all her friends for the meal preparation, taking Margrit to her appointments. Special thanks to the Canmore Hospital staff, also the Foothills Hospital, unit 42.
