Lyle Thompson

Lyle Thompson was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario passing away

at the age of 81 years at the Calgary Foothills Hospital.

Lyle is survived by his son Allan and daughter Jessie (Aaron).

He is also survived by his sister Lynne (Allan) White, brothers Jim (Jeanette), Colin (Joan), niece Karen (Phil) Marra, great-nephews

Ryan (Mel) Marra, Adam (Pam) Marra. Lyle was predeceased by his wife Dale, sisters Ann Magee and Janice Olson.

Lyle was stationed in Germany for his time in the Armed Forces as a mechanic; he then tried his hand at farming at the family farm in Quebec. He first came out west in 1978, working on the train between Banff and Field to be near his two sisters. He will be most remembered for his time working at Marra's Grocery as a receiver for more than 20 years. He liked the morning shift that started at 6 am but would always be there by 5. He was the official coffee maker at the Folk Festival Pancake Breakfast for many years; he would start the coffee brewing at 4 am. Lyle had a big heart and genuinely cared for everyone that was in his life. He loved to chat with everyone, his first question when he met new people "where are you from" .... ?

Lyle resided at Golden Eagle View for the past year where he made many new friends in housekeeping, food services and volunteers and he could tell you where everyone was from !

The family would like to thank all the medical staff and volunteers for taking such good care of Lyle at the Canmore Hospital and the Golden Eagle View. Thank you to Dr. Michael Quinlan for his medical care over the years.

Lyle's only request is that everyone to remember to hug your loved ones !
