Louise Mattson

d. August 7, 2019

Elizabeth Louise Mattson (nee Sherwood) passed away peacefully

on August 7, 2019 in Okotoks. Louise was predeceased by her loving husband Dutchy (Alfred) in 2006 and her brother Buss Sherwood in 1992. Louise is survived by her daughters Nancy (Jim) and Donna;

and her son Russell (Marilyn); her grand-children - Matt (Becky),

Kim (Ryan), Mike (Sasha), Larry (Lindsay), and Susie (Tim);

as well as numerous great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews.

Mom was born in Canmore and lived 92 years of her life in the Bow Valley. She was a proud "coal miner's daughter". There was nothing more treasured and beautiful to Mom than "Her Mountains".

Mom lived at the Tudor Manor in Okotoks for the last 3 years.

We would like to thank all the Doctors from the Foothills Medical Centre in Black Diamond and the loving caring staff at the Tudor Manor.

A special thanks to Dr. Val Congdon.

Mom enjoyed life to the fullest - she loved her family, pets, travel, knitting, horseback riding, hiking, XC skiing, swimming and aquasize with her "pool people", and getting her hands in the dirt in her flower beds. Mom made the best cookies - they were always delicious.

Mom was an avid Volunteer - with the Red Cross, Ladies Aid,

Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Brownies (she was a great Tawny Owl!),

at the NWMP Barracks, and with the 1988 Winter Olympics.

The grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special and cherished by Mom. She loved being their Nana.

A celebration of Louise's life was held on Saturday,

September 21, 2019 at the Ralph Connor Memorial United Church

in Canmore with a reception following.
