Louise Maria Feddema was a loving mother and dedicated doctor.
She passed away at the age of 60 years.
Louise practiced medicine for over 30 years. She tirelessly devoted herself to her patients, both in Canada and internationally. Before practicing in Canmore, she worked with Médecins Sans Frontières: during the civil conflict in Sierra Leone, working with Guatemalan communities, and helping countless individuals across the globe. Service and care for others was always central in Louise's life, whether advocating for and helping patients, or being a loving mother and friend.
There was never a person she met that Louise was not interested in getting to know. Once, she even disrupted a tour of a haunted house in London to have a conversation in French with a chainsaw-wielding actor. She collected stories as well as experiences, tried every food, accepted every invitation, and rarely passed judgment. She lived voraciously but with humor.
It is impossible to describe Louise in a few short paragraphs; she loved fiercely and gave without reservation. Whether through her blunt sincerity, sense of humour, or sheer determination to change the world single-handedly, she had a lasting impact on everyone she met. Above all, she was fearless: never backed down or hesitated to stand up for what she believed in.
Louise will be forever missed by those who knew the kindness of her heart. Her spirit and memory are alive and continue to be celebrated by her two loving daughters, Delaney and Jaylynn Barth, and the countless lives she has touched.
Those who wish to commemorate Louise's life can make a donation, in her name, to the Canadian Mental Health Association
Services provided by Russ Reynolds and Bow River Funeral Service.
