Lorna Hoffman

d. August 19, 2012

Lorna Hoffman passed away suddenly on August 19, 2012 in Canmore. Grandma Lorna leaves behind a legacy of love and special relationships. She enriched the lives of everyone she met. Grandma was a tireless volunteer in the community for her entire life. Predeceased by her husband Ben in 1977, she is finally back at his side in her rightful place.

Left to celebrate her life are her three children, Wendy Toderian (Wayne), Neil and Wayne (Tracy) as well as grandchildren Tracey, Kyndra, Megan, Krystle, Ben and Kaylee and great - grandchildren Vanessa, Kylee, Jackie, Olivia and Mary. She also leaves behind her special little four legged friend Milo of Yorkshire, Miss Samantha and her late companion Teddy.

Born in Pilgar, Saskatchewan in 1932 to Peter and Mary Lukan, Lorna was an avid curler, baseball player, golfer, accomplished musician and world class friend.

She moved to Exshaw in 1950 to work for Poole Construction where she met the love of her life, Ben, and married in 1954. Later she moved to Canmore where she immersed herself in the community, working at the Victory Store, Canmore Hospital Tuck Shop and most every other volunteer opportunity that came along.

Grandma Lorna was everyone's Grandma, Mom, Sister, Best Friend or personal advisor, whatever was required of her. Her mission in life was to make others happy. In that she found true joy.

Vigil prayers were said at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canmore. A celebration of Lorna's Journey was held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Our Lady of the Rockies Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Canmore. She was then laid to rest next to Ben in the Canmore Cemetery. Following the service of interment, a Celebration of Life gathering with tributes and memories of Lorna was held at the Canmore Senior's Centre, Creekside Hall at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Lorna would have been overjoyed that people would make a donation to the Canmore Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Box 40016, Canmore, AB T1W 3H9 (chladiesaux@gmail.com) or to the Bow Valley SPCA, 123 Bow Meadows Cres, PO Box 8154, Canmore, AB T1W 2T9
