Lillian Kine (nee Meredith), longtime resident of Exshaw, passed away unexpectedly at the Canmore Hospital one day short of her 87th birthday. Born in Wales, England, Lillian was the daughter of English immigrants who settled in the area of Macklin, Saskatchewan in 1927. She moved to Calgary and worked at the Grace Hospital, eventually becoming Housekeeping Supervisor. She married Lorne Kine in 1970 and moved to Exshaw, maintaining her residence there until her passing on January 22, 2011. Lil has been a very active member of the Exshaw community, especially the Exshaw Legion, Branch 179 Ladies Auxiliary.
Originally from a family of nine brothers and sisters, Lil leaves behind three sisters, May, Phyllis and Winnie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who, with all who knew her well, mourn her passing. We will miss her but look forward to seeing her again in eternity.
Funeral service for Lil was held Thursday, January 27, 2011 in the Ralph Connor Memorial United Church in Canmore. She was then laid to rest with her beloved Lorne, who predeceased her in 1994, in the Field of Honor, Canmore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Lillian may make donations, in her memory, to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #200, 119 – 14 Street NW, Calgary AB, T2N 1Z6 or to the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation, 1100 Hospital Place, Canmore T1W 1N2 for use in the Canmore Hospital.
