Leonard Knowles, 98, of Banff, Alberta passed away peacefully

at the Mineral Springs Hospital on November 7, 2017 of chronic

Len was born in England on August 19, 1919. His siblings were brothers, Harry, Horatio and sister Gladys. At an early age Len developed a love for singing and was a choir boy. Len served in the British Military during World War II touring through Africa, Italy,

Len kept his love of singing into adult hood where he became a performer and Chairman for the Mansfield Amateur Dramatic Society for over 40 years. Two of his key characters that he played were Dr. Doolittle and Tevye the milkman from Fiddler on the Roof. Len was community minded and was involved with charitable organizations such as the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners.

Len met the next love of his life, Mary Zevick at Nottingham Station when he came to pick her and her niece up from Canada. It was love at first sight. After a short courtship they were married in May of 1997 and went on to have a loving and caring relationship for the next 20 years.

Len is survived by his wife Mary, his son Bryan, his daughter in law Joanne, his granddaughter Megan and his many friends.
