Kenneth Albert Samis died peacefully in Calgary on June 09, 2015
at the age of 78 years.
Ken is survived by his wife Jean of Canmore, his daughter Ronel,
son-in-law Mark, son Brad, daughter in-law Dana, grandchildren Bronwyn and Dylan of Vancouver as well as his sister Jean
of Edmonton and his favourite dogs Wookie and Clyde.
Ken was born on August 25, 1936 in Edmonton to Ken and Dorothy Samis. He attended U of A and studied geology. Ken married Jean in 1969, after meeting in Calgary in 1966 then again at the 1967
Montreal Expo. Ken began working for Amoco Oil, transferred to Challenger Service Rig Company in Swan Hills, then moved to Edmonton where he worked until 1990. The following year
he and Jean moved to Canmore after purchasing Action Parts.
Ken and Jean built a new house that they operated as a Bed and Breakfast for 6 enjoyable years.
Ken was very active in the Canmore community, spending most of his spare time volunteering and supporting the Canmore Eagles Jr. A hockey team and was a strong advocate for minor hockey.
A funeral service for Ken was held Monday, June 22, 2015 at
St. Michael's Anglican Church in Canmore with a reception following.
