Tribute to the adventurous life of Kathleen I. Snook

Kathleen Snook passed away peacefully at the Golden Eagle Care Centre in Canmore at the grand age of 102 years. She leaves behind two children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Kathleen was born in Nuneaton, England, the eldest of 11 children. She worked as a key punch operator after the war and married Fredrick Snook in 1946. She had her first child, Anna, before moving to Kenya where Fred worked for the east Africa Railroad Company. A second child, Paul, arrived in 1953. Living in Nairobi and Nakuru, the Snook family experienced some wonderful wildlife as well as living through the bloody Maumau uprisings. Kathleen returned to England in 1963 with the children in 1963 to settle in picturesque Cornwall. Fred joined her following an additional two years of work commitment. The Snooks lived in a lovely cottage overlooking the ocean in Perranporth, Cornwall.

Husband Fred died in 1970 while daughter Anna moved to Canada. In 1989 Kathleen undertook another major journey with her good friend Meg Bowkett joining her daughter in Canada. Several years of travel around western Canada followed. Kathleen moved into the Golden Eagle Care Centre in 2016 for several years of peace and contentment.

The family would like to thank Dr. Morin and the staff of the Golden Eagle Care Centre for their kind support and loving care of Kathleen over the past years.
