June Mickle

June Mickle passed away quietly in the Canmore Hospital with family at her side at the age of 90 years. Born in Vancouver, B.C into an Alberta pioneer family, June spent most of her life in the Foothills and Rockies of Alberta. She was a true pioneer in many ways. Her life journey took her from country life near Turner Valley and Millarville, to years in the

Lake Louise area, Spruceview and Cochrane, Alberta.

June had many friends from all walks of life, and her door was always open for anyone that needed to stay for an hour or a winter. She was a positive, vibrant, artistic and very active person. Her many paintings and crafts can still be found throughout Alberta.

Pre-deceased by her husband Bert Mickle in 1979 and her daughter Faye Hall in 1980, June is survived by her son and daughter-law Don and Grace Mickle; granddaughter Deborah (Wade) Smith; grandson Marty (Susan) Hall; granddaughter Flora (Mark) Giesbrecht and granddaughter Johanna Mickle and husband Jon Kinstad. She will also be missed by all of her great grandchildren, Faye Smith, Morgan Smith, Dustin Hall, Tyler Hall, Ryan Hall, Miliana Giesbrecht, Harrison Giesbrecht and Wiley Kinstad. June will be greatly missed by her special friend Louis Kohler.

Her family will always be grateful for the loving care that June received in her last days at the Canmore Hospital.

Funeral service for June will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in St. Andrews United Church in Cochrane. Cremation will follow, with family interment service in the spring in the family plot in the Kevisville Cemetery.

Flowers gratefully declined. Friends wishing to remember June may make donations, in her memory, to the SPCA or Animal Shelter of their choice.
