Julie (Jolan) Mortimer

A long-time resident of Banff, Julie Mortimer, beloved wife of the late Harold Mortimer, passed away at the age of 93 years.

Julie was a strong advocate for her family, a caring mother who is survived by her daughter Marilyn of Calgary, her sisters, Rose Elton of Leduc, and Rene Johnston of Brooks and their respective families. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Roxiena Ashmore of Okotoks and Shirley Wilson of Red Deer, several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Julie was predeceased by her parents Jolan Maria Szilagyi in 1981,

and Steven Juhasz in 1976 as well as Harold, her husband of

69 years, in January 2012. She was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Julie was an active, intelligent woman who leaves a legacy of strength and courage. She will be remembered for being kind hearted, a good neighbour, and for always displaying a sense of community and willingness to help others. It is for these attributes we will grieve for her unconditionally and forever

The family wishes to thank: the staff at Cascade House (independent living), Banff for their dedication in providing excellent care, especially Joe and Devon; the Banff Health Care community members, for their kindness and support over the past few years; the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital staff and our deepest gratitude to Dr. Stephen Shigeishi. It would be amiss not to mention Hans Hofer, Julie's dedicated hair stylist at En Vogue Hair Design in Banff. Thanks also to the management and staff at Origins Spring Creek in Canmore for the compassionate care Julie received to make her last few days more comfortable.

Cremation has taken place.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral service or memorial. A family gathering will be held, when Julie and Harold will be laid to rest in the Old Banff Cemetery at a later date.
