Julia Emberton

Julia Emberton (née Verhelst) passed away peacefully with her family and friends at her side on Tuesday evening, June 28, 2011.

Predeceased by her father Maurice, Julia will be lovingly remembered by her husband Earl, daughter Emily, mother Yvonne (Don), her siblings and their spouses and children: Evelyn (Sarah, Nathan, Jeremiah), Leonard and Jill (Michael, Allison, Jennifer), Cindy and Doug (Amy, Samantha, Katie), Bernie and Barb (Dustin, Amber), Dominic and Shelley (Larissa, Robert, Jacob, Taryn).

Julia and Earl met in Banff in 1976 and have resided in the Bow Valley since that time, except for periods in Victoria, BC and Callan, Ireland. Julia's passions were music and the outdoors. She enjoyed the friendships that she developed through her participation in the Valley Winds Choir and Concert Band, the Bow Valley Chorus, the Tai Chi Society, volunteering with Adult Day Support and St. Michael's Anglican Church. Julia loved to hike, backpack and cross country ski. She treasured opportunities to visit her favourite sites with her family and friends.

Julia's family extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Alexander Paterson and the nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary and to Dr. Catherine Hinds and Dr. Debbie Menonik and the nurses from Community Care in Canmore for the care that they provided to Julia and her family.

Vigil Prayer service was held at Our Lady of the Rockies Parish (Sacred Heart Catholic Church) 810 - 7 Street, Canmore on Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Funeral Mass was celebrated in the same church on Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Reception for family and friends followed the funeral service and was held in St. Michael's Anglican Church Hall
