It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father Hans John Rock. Known by so many in the Bow Valley and all over Canada. John was born in Freiburg, Germany
and passed away at Banff.
John became a P.O.W. in Lethbridge and Ozada (Kananaskis) in 1942. Loving the mountains so much, he returned to Canada following WW II and eventually resided in Banff to start a family with his wife Edel. As a barber by trade, John made many friends. He was very sports oriented - soccer especially, his number one sport and participated in many events - far to many to mention. John loved fishing, walking and was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Canmore. He would often be seen playing a game of pool and chatting with the boys over a beer. A wonderful friendly kind man, John will be missed by all who were so lucky to know him !
John had been residing in St. Martha's in Banff over the last few years. He leaves behind, in great sorrow, his wonderful wife
of "65" years, Edel, his son Gordon, daughter Ursula (Pauline),
and many family overseas and also thousands of friends.
Our family wishes to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone at the Mineral Springs Hospital and St. Martha's Place, the doctors, nurses and all the staff for all your care and support for our loving father.
He loved you all !
Goodbye dear husband and Dad.
Until we meet again, we love you our dear "Bup"
