Jack Paterson, longtime resident of Banff, passed away unexpectedly at the Foothills General Hospital on January 24, 2011 at the age of 71 years. Survived by Helen, his wife of almost 50 years, father of Drew of Dallas, Texas and his daughter Kendall of Sherwood Park, Alberta, father of Craig and his daughter Ashley of Maryville, Tennessee, brother of Brian (Leita) and Doug (Sandi) of Brandon, Manitoba. Jack will also be missed by several cousins, nieces and nephews. Jack was born in Kelloe, Manitoba. In 1959 Jack joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were he was posted in Banff, High River, Calgary and Drumheller. Jack worked on occasion for Alpine Limousine. He was elected to the Board of Directors for Bow Valley Credit Union in 1992 until present and was appointed to Credit Union Central's Board of Directors in 2006. In 1980 Jack and his family started Chalet Grocery in Banff on Tunnel Mountain serving the community till 2002. Jack will be remembered for his kind and thoughtful demeanor.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Banff Park Lodge.
