It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of John James Reid on Monday September 5, 2011. He was born on December 27, 1931 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. John left his native Ireland in 1951 and chose Canada for his new home.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include the love of his life Moira (nee Lewis) whom he was married to for 55 years, his children Shauna McCloy, Maureen (Russell) Bilton, Lauchlan (Tracy) Reid, and Fiona (Michael) Filipski, his grandchildren Matthew (Courtney), Kelsey, Connor (Justine) McCloy, his great grandchildren Mikennah and Hayden McCloy, his sister Anne Laing and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Margaret, brothers Alec and Nat and sister Phil.
John founded Reid Lift Truck Services and also Reid Stationers, a proud legacy that continues successfully to this day. He devoted his entire life to his family and enjoyed traveling extensively with them. John was a skilled craftsman and he took great pride in building his cabin in the mountains. The impact he had on our lives was immeasurable and his love for his family was boundless.
