John Borisenko

John Borisenko, 96, of Banff passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4th at St. Martha's Place, surrounded by family.

John was born in Rabbit Lake, Saskatchewan to the late Pauline (Paraskevia) and Paul Borisenko - the 9th of 16 children.

After attending school in Saskatchewan, John spent much of his adult life in Kelowna where he owned and operated Valley Trailer Sales, selling recreational vehicles until his retirement.

In 1999 John married Clara Tarchuk of Banff. He often expressed gratitude for "God giving me another opportunity for happiness later in life" - and for the next 20 years he made Clara's well-being a priority.

He was warmly welcomed into Clara's family and affectionately became known as 'Uncle John' to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John was a kind and generous individual - he was interested in others, loved a good conversation, thoroughly enjoyed visits with family and friends, and was always available for a challenging board or card game. John had a passion for travelling, did so extensively over his lifetime and enjoyed sharing his travel experiences. And as one grandchild adds, "It's also important to mention his love of a good steak, even when he didn't have teeth to chew it!"

John was predeceased by his parents, 10 of his 15 siblings,

his first wife Mary Arichuk, their son Daniel, and second wife Gerda Kulak. John is survived by his wife, Clara, his son Regan (Sharon)

with Gerda, his daughter Sharon (Wayne) with Mary, 4 grandchildren,

and 3 great-grandchildren. As well, he will be missed by Clara's

family - sons Byron (Janis) and Randy (Debbie), 7 grandchildren,

and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank everyone at Mineral Springs

for providing excellent care.

A celebration of John's life was held, December 14, 2019

at Banff Park Church.
