Jim Sampson

d. January 19, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of

Evan James Sampson of Canmore, Alberta. Jim passed away

in the Foothills Hospital in Calgary at the age of 64.

Jim was the first child born to Jim and Jean (Lewis) Sampson,

of Canmore. Jim loved fishing, horseback riding, hiking, curling, playing cards, and tinkering in the garage. He lived his entire life

in Canmore and worked at Lafarge as an Electrician his entire career. Jim's door was always open and many friends and family enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in Jim's back yard.

While volunteering for the 1988 Olympics Jim met the love of his life,

Cathy Mackenzie. It was love at first sight and they were seldom apart. They could often be found at the Canmore Legion or the Canmore Curling Club. One thing for sure was if you found one,

the other was nearby.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Cathy Mackenzie, sons Jesse (Nancy Powell) Sampson, Jason Sampson, daughter Janet Sampson, grandson Jordan Sampson, parents Jim and Jean (Lewis) Sampson, siblings Jane (Heinz) Binter, Judy (Joe Gannon) Sampson, John (Karen) Sampson, Jay (Rosemary) Sampson. There are also uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends too numerous

to mention, but not forgotten. Thank you for all of your support during these difficult times.

There was a celebration of life, gathering of friends and family

for Jim at the Royal Canadian Legion in Canmore on Saturday,

January 19, 2019.
