Jim Price

d. November 21, 2018

Jim Price (James George Vernon Price) passed away in his 77th year

in Canmore, Alberta following a long illness.

Jim was born in Toronto, Ontario; the only child to parents, Ethel Gertrude Dawson and James Price. Jim met Sandra Lyon Saville

on a surprise blind date while at university. They were married

in Guelph in 1967. Jim's family will miss his playful sense of humor,

and his steadfast advice and support. He leaves behind his wife

of 51 years, Sandi, his daughters; Shannon Parker (Shawn Parker), Heather Price Bregliano (Marco Bregliano), Meghan Hawkes (Craig Hawkes), Caity Price (Adam Price) and his twelve grandchildren;

Hailey, Matteo, Mackenzie, Presley, Isabella, Ara, Kayla, Peyton, Elsie, Giuliana, Addison, and Cordon. He will be forever in their hearts.

Jim graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1966. He worked in the oil industry starting his career at British-American Oil, then at Gulf Canada, and Petro-Canada.

His colleagues will remember him first as a friend but also as an intellectual, creative thinker and passionately stubborn. During his career, he and his family made their home in Toronto, Calgary and Oakville. Retiring in 2000, he and Sandi answered the call of the mountains, settling in Canmore as well as travelling the world and

North America in their RV. He also dedicated his retirement years to giving back to his community with the Rotary Club, Canmore Art Guild, sponsoring a Syrian refugee family, travelling to Guatemala as part of Hearts and Hands, exchange student programs and other volunteering in the Bow Valley.

Jim was a kind, generous, and giving man. He was a mentor to many and shared his strong family values with those that entered his life.

The Price household was always open to old and new friends alike,

with Jim ready for any new adventure leading the charge as head of the "Trust Me Travel Co.". Hiking, canoeing, skiing and sailing were a few of the ways he enjoyed and explored the outdoors. Jim loved his many cats and dogs, as long as Sandi cared for them! He was a pioneer in the computer age and carried a passion for technology and innovation throughout his life (except for Apple products!).

Cremation took place on November 21st, 2018.

The family invited friends to join with them for a Celebration of Jim's Life which was held on Thursday, November 29th, 2018, at the Canmore Golf and Curling Club. Friends were invited to drop in to share your favorite stories of Jim.
