Jennie Bilyk, lifelong resident of Canmore, passed away peacefully in the Foothills Hospital in Calgary at the age of 86 years on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
Predeceased by her husband, Steve, Jennie is survived by two nieces; Marianne Mitton of Courtney BC and her children Melody Goodson and Derek Mitton and Georgina Kiriachuk of Calgary; as well as her nephew Leonard Kiriachuk of Calgary.
Jenny was born and raised in Canmore and never had any desire to leave. She loved her garden and planted a huge flower garden every year, which she gladly shared with her "bunnies". She loved all animals and always had a collection of small animals in her house. Jennie was an excellent cook and worked for many years at the Canmore Hotel café. She loved to cook and would cook for anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Jennie was a very strong and hardworking lady, who complained little and carried on in spite of what life threw at her. She will be missed greatly and is now at peace.
As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be interred in the family plot in the Canmore Cemetery at a later date.
A gathering of friends and family was held Saturday, January 28, 2012 in the Bow River Lodge, where Jennie spent her last years with her many friends.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Jennie may make donations, in her memory to the Bow Valley SPCA, Box 8154,
