We are sorry to say goodbye to the most wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend who left her mark on all those who crossed paths with her. Born in Montreal into a family
of nine children, she was a true Montrealer, who spent her remaining years in Canmore. At age 27, her first husband, Jean died of kidney disease. She then shared almost 60 years of marriage with Stan Wingfield, who passed three years ago.
Her small stature did not stop her from being an energetic feisty promoter of social issues, (marching with Morgentaler, labour issues and peace marches). She was Canada's Rosie the riveter, building aircraft at Canadair during WWII. She spent the majority of her career at the Fur Workers Union. She travelled to Central America, Europe, the Caribbean and spent many a winter in Mexico. Never idle, she took on woodworking, sewing, knitting, but especially loved stained glass and was always willing to help others with projects. She had time for everyone, from store employees, grandchildren's friends, family members as well as being a mother and grandmother to her extended family. She had no favourites and shared her love with all openly and equally. Hers and Stan's home was always welcoming to family, friends and those who needed support. Over the years, NDG in Montreal was a centre for large yearly family gatherings and parties. The house would be filled with laughter, music and love, and it is almost as if her favourite singer had thought of her in this way, Unforgettable.
She was the foundation of the family. She will be missed by her children, Stan, Susie, (Dave) Steven, (Sylvie), grandchildren Dexter, Morgan, Carl and Jonathan and all of those that are fortunate to have shared their lives with her, because they will always have a little piece of Jeannette, (and Stan Sr.). Many thanks to Dr. Morin and Dr. Quinlan, Bow River Lodge and Canmore Hospital and Home Care staff, and all the community members who welcomed, "le soeur chaleureuse" into their lives.
Salut Jeannette.
