Evelyn Jeanne Hutchins (nee Yerxa), born May 25, 1923 in Calgary, passed away peacefully following declining health on June 7, 2012 at the age of 89 years.
Predeceased by her husband James Alfred (Jim) Hutchins; her son James Edward (Ted) Hutchins; sister Vera Anderson; nephew Lorne Yerxa and sister-in-law Muriel Serra, Jeanne is survived by her children Laurel Christine (Dan) and Ian Hamilton, both of Banff and her daughter-in-law Hazel (Toots); grandchildren Wil, Leanna and Ben (Gwen). She is also survived by her sisters Connie Brown, Wilda McLeod and Bette Laing and her brother Donald (Helen) Yerxa and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanne received all her junior and senior education in Blackie, AB before moving with her family to Vancouver during the War Years, spending every summer at the family owned Castle Mountain Bungalows where she was president and manager….and noted for her home cooked meals and wonderful pies !!
Jeanne met Jim Hutchins in Banff, where they married and resided for about 20 years. They later moved to Parksville, BC where they built a home in which they spent many happy years. After Jim died in 1996, Jeanne moved to Canmore to be near her children, where she stayed until her passing.
In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Jeanne may make a donation, in her memory, to their favorite charity.
A garthering of friends and family was held Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Clubhouse of Mountain Shadows, 216 Three Sisters Drive in Canmore
