Isobel Goodwin

Isobel Mae Goodwin passed away peacefully, at the Canmore

Hospital, in the morning, just as the sun was coming up,

with her family by her side.

Isobel was born on a farm in Griswold, Manitoba and that was always her place of joy. She took pleasure in helping out with farm chores, being with her family and especially enjoyed raising her pet lambs. After high school she joined the Air Force and moved to Halifax where she met her husband, Donald Cameron who was also in the Air Force. They had four children together and later moved to Ottawa, where Isobel worked for the Federal Government as a manager for Revenue Canada and Donald worked for the Department of National Defence setting up radar stations across the country. They eventually divorced and Isobel remarried RCAF Airman and chartered accountant, Douglas Goodwin.

Upon her retirement, Isobel and Doug moved to Blairmore, Alberta to be closer to Isobel's children and grandchildren. Later, they moved to Fort MacLeod where she volunteered for many organizations, among them, the Royal Canadian Legion, Meals on Wheels and the annual Santa Claus Parade. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and was an expert bridge player. She was also an accomplished musician and learned to play the piano by ear. She entertained many people with her musical skills when she lived at Origin in Canmore. But her most enduring trait, and the one she will be remembered for, was her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit!

She is predeceased by her husband, sister Bernice Jackson and her parents Fredrick Booth Wallace and Eva Sutherland. She leaves behind her loving family: Patricia Kelly (Calgary), Deborah Cameron (Banff), Mike Cameron (Karen) Banff and DL Cameron (Bill) Banff as well as her four grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Kelly (Calgary), Ryley and Delaney Maher (Banff).

Our family is truly appreciative of the extraordinary care she received at the Canmore Hospital. A Memorial to celebrate Isobel was held on her birthday, March 21, 2023.
