Iris Lorraine Christou, born Kotch on January 26, 1936 in Vancouver, British Columbia, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 in Banff, Alberta. She lived a life full of joy and adventure, loved by her family and friends.
Iris was the proud and devoted mother of five sons: Dean, David, Peter (Erin), Gregory, and Jeffrey, all residing in Banff, Alberta. She adored her nine grandchildren: Natalie (David) of Denver, CO, Heather of Phoenix, AZ, Thalia (Max) of Lunenburg, NS, Nicholas of Banff, AB, Erika of Toronto, ON, Seth (Julia) of Bragg Creek, AB, Judah of Canmore, AB, Jacob of Banff, AB, and Breila of Calgary, AB. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Henry, Torin and Angus, who brought immense joy to her in her later years. Iris was also a beloved sister to Vincent and Vivian. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Evangelos “Van” Christou, and her parents, Molly and Peter Kotch, whose influences shaped her into the strong and remarkable woman she was.
Iris, known for her indomitable spirit and zest for life, was a woman of many passions. An avid golfer, traveler, and opera buff, she cherished the special moments spent with family and friends. Her kind heart and nurturing spirit made her a source of comfort and support for countless individuals, and her warm smile will be missed but never forgotten.
