Ingo Kalk, long-time resident of Canmore passed away peacefully in Foothills Hospital in Calgary, from long-term effects of a stroke that he suffered eleven years ago.
Predeceased by an infant sister Birgid Kalk and his parents Wolf and Else Kalk in Germany, Ingo is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dianne and a brother Eckhart (Marianne) Kalk, niece Martina Kalk (Stephan Schnurr) and grandniece Ina, all in Germany.
Ingo came to Canada by boat from Berlin, Germany in 1960 settling in Calgary where he found work as a home designer with ATCO. In 1987 he moved to the mountains that he loved, settling in Canmore where he was able to pursue his outdoor lifestyle, skiing and hiking. In 1988 he worked with the Olympics as a host and German translator for both athletes and spectators. His love of the mountain scenery led him to pursue a career as a professional photographer, shooting both the outdoors and weddings for many couples. Ingo was active in the Canmore Rotary Club until his stroke made getting out far more difficult.
Ingo never really like dogs, but his two companions at home, Desi and Opie are really missing him.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held at a later date.
