Hiroshi (James) Kuwabara

d. May 4, 2012

Hiroshi "James" Kuwabara passed away peacefully in the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital on Friday, May 4, 2012 following a short battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sakuko; his two daughters Yoko Pilling (Norman MacKenzie) of Banff and Yachiyo Ayers (Richard) of Reedley, California as well as his grandchildren Clayton and Brandon and Amanda, Emily, Westley and Annie.

Hiroshi came to Canada from Osaka, Japan in 1972 and worked with NTN Ball & Bearing in Toronto for many years before working as a tour guide for JTB Tours in Niagara Falls. Hiroshi then moved to Banff to be near his daughter and his cherished grand children. He worked for several years in the retail shops on Banff Ave. before truly retiring. He became a fantastic grandfather to all of the children in the neighbourhood and James and Bishop, his dog, became very well known in the Fairholme district and around Banff. He took great delight in showering the children with attention and sharing his love for life with them.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Mineral Springs Hospital and the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary for the care, love and respect that was given to Hiroshi.

Cremation has taken place. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Services provided by Russ Reynolds and Bow River Funeral Service.
