Henny Reitsma

Henny passed away in Canmore, Alberta on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the age of 94 years. She was a loving wife to Rick (1914 -2004), a great mom to Nel Keith (Bruce) and Alex (Linda Bateman), a gentle grandmother to Rob Keith (Carey) of Vernon, B.C., Sandra Keith (Halvard) of Norway, Amy, Casey and Maggie Reitsma of Seabright, Nova Scotia, Jonathan LeBoutillier (Karen) of Stittsville, Ontario and a great-grandmother to Jordyn, Katie and Kyler. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Rob and Carey's children, Evan and Jaime. Lastly, she was the big sister of Nel Voute (Dan) of Holland.

Henny and her husband Rick brought their young family from Holland to Canada in the early 1950's and lived across Canada in Montreal, Ste. Therese, P.Q., Kingsville, Ont., Seabright, N.S. and lastly, Canmore, AB. She loved sailing, skating and playing field hockey in her youth and then re-discovered skating in her beloved Canada when she visited Nel in Ottawa and glided on the Rideau Canal.

Henny was a thoughtful, feisty, sincere lady who thoroughly enjoyed jazz and any toe tapping music. Her family was very important to her and she provided them with unconditional love.

A tea celebrating Henny's life will be held in January 2011.
