As hard as it is to say goodbye, all of Gord's family and friends know that he had a great life. To leave this world having had a loving marriage of 63 years, children whom you taught all you had to give, grandchildren who each felt "special", and countless loyal friendships, is a gift.
Gordon Wilfred Dorion was born in Kingsgate, BC. He grew up in Golden, BC where he met and married Bernice in November 1955. They chose to make Banff their home and always felt they lived in the most beautiful place on Earth. Gord co-owned Star Service with Jack Wilson and later he and Bernie owned Blue Bubble and Bow Coin Laundries. Gord was an active member of The Kinsmen Club and was proud of his Honorary Lifetime Membership.
Gord lived each day to the fullest. He loved sports. Gord was an avid curler, golfer, hockey player, skier, traveller, hiker, and a fisherman. He was the ultimate handyman and mechanic. He would tackle any job that landed on his workbench. Gord owned his own plane and logged many hours flying in the mountains he loved. Gord always made time for his friends. So many good times were had in his garage on Rainbow. He had a way with animals. His love for Shasta and Cole was legendary. Gord will be missed but the memories and stories will live on.
The family of Gord wish to thank all his friends for the good times and to all the staff at the Canmore Hospital who took such loving care of him.
Friends were invited to join with the family for a memorial celebration for both Gord and Bernice on Friday, June 28 at the Banff Fenlands Recreation Center, Concourse upstairs level.
